Millerstown Recreational Committee Community Room, Park Building Wednesday, September 3, 2025 A. Call to Order: President, Dave Bratton called the meeting to order at 7:03pm. B. Present: Dave Bratton, Jack Cameron, Kelley Griswold, Willard Benner, George Moore, Katy Black, Mark Stroup, Teresa Hunker, Joe Hunker, and Diane Schnauffer. C. Secretary’s Report: Minutes of the August 6, 2025 were approved as submitted. D. Treasurer’s Report: The treasurer’s report from January 1st thru August 31, 2025 was accepted as presented. E. Committee Reports: a. Pool: No report. b. Baseball/Softball (GYSA): No report. No signed contract received yet. c. Football (GNMFA): No report. No signed contract received yet. d. Soccer: Concession stand is doing well. Thanks to Kim Savercool and Cindy Roush. No contract received yet. F. Fund Raisers: a. Car Show July 12. Corrected suggestions: Get rid of Flea Market venders (not Craft venders). b. Parktober Fest October 18. Local balloon artist and face-painters will replace the high priced artists we used last year. G. Building and Grounds report: a. General Repairs List: 1. Repairs to stage roof and fascia. Lift truck needed. 2. New dog policy signs stating: “Dogs must be on a leash at all times” have not been posted yet. 3. Community Room floor needs repaired. 4. Large tree branches need to be cleaned up after spring storms, especially near the BBQ pit. 5. Fencing on the old canal tow path has been pushed over. 6. Fire-ring needs repairs before Students Reading to the Gnomes in October. 7. Lock needed BBQ pit bathroom door, on the river side. H. Old Business: a. Safe Serve Course to be planned: Plans are underway to host a future Safe Serve course for park volunteers. I. New Business: a. Willard will be catering two meals in the Park building on Sept. 6 & 13 @1:00. Volunteers needed to help at 10:00 am. Proceeds will be donated to the Park. b. Dedication of Freedom Elm Tree & 3 new benches, Wednesday, September 24 @ 11:00. Sections from Perry County HS Bands and Greenwood’s 5th graders will be present. We need to set up 100 or more chairs. J. Upcoming events: a. September 24, 11:00 – Dedication of Freedom Elm Tree & benches b. September 27 - Pool Fall Fest c. October 5 Fire Dept. Challenge Contest. Open to the public. d. October 18 – Parktober Fest (rain-date – Oct. 25) e. October 20? – Annual Students Reading to the Gnomes f. December 6 – Christmas in the Park, Fire Dept. Friday Night-Lights (food and cocoa) on the 12th & 19th. g. April 1 4 – U.S. 250th Anniversary Celebration at Freedom Elm Tree at the center of our Park with new rock- mounted plaques K.
